Five most significant events of 2008(INDIA) !

One of the most defining aspects of 2008 events is the Global recession. It has its effect on all sectors of the industry be it Bollywood, industrialists or a common man.

Indian Banks have faced a huge scare of bankruptcy especially the ICICI Bank.

Finally a Gold at the Olympics. Abhinav Bindra made us proud in Beijing 2008 olympics. The man from Punjab won a gold medal in 10m Air rifle event.

He's the first Indian individual to have won a Gold Medal since 1980, when the Men's field hockey team won the Gold.

2008 gave us a team that wins. The Indian cricket team has finally started winning away from home.
This young Indian side lead by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni beat the Australians in their own backyard to clinch the CB series. Also, consistent performances have made them the Team of the year.

On 28th of April 2008, India sets a world record by sending 10 satellites into orbit in a single launch.

On 30th April Polar Satellite
Launch Vehicle(PSLV-C9) successfully puts all the 10 satellites into orbit.

The 2008 Mumbai attacks were a series of ten coordinated terrorist attacks across Mumbai, India's financial capital and its largest city.

The attacks, carried out by
Pakistani Terrorists using automatic weapons and grenades, began on 26 November 2008 and ended on 29 November 2008. At least 173 people were killed and at least 308 were injured in the attacks.

South Africa creates history as Australia's dominance ends !

Australia won't forget this one easily. If India challenged the Aussie dominance, South Africa sealed the last nail in the coffin.
Graeme Smith's men romped to a nine-wicket win at the MCG and clinched the three-Test series against Australia 2-0. Poor Ponting has no one to wipe his tears.
Australia tried everything but nothing worked. According to experts, Australia's dominance has been challenged by India and South Africa. Ponting sure has his work cut out.

Aamir wins the War !

After all the hype that Aamir created with his much awaited Ghajini and his hair style, the movie has finally hit the silver screen and has started with a huge opening. Clearly SRK has lost this battle as Aamir's Ghajini is expected to become the biggest hit of the year if going by the opening results. As it was the case last year, when SRK went out of his way to promote Om Shanti Om with his 6 packs and defeated Aamir's Taare zameen par, thats when Aamir decided to return the favour by promoting Ghajini with his 8 pack and do the same to SRK's Rab ne bana di Jodi.

But as SRK will be in for revenge in the coming year, with his soon to be released Biloo Barber and Karan Johar's My name is Khan is also on the cards, Aamir surely has the reason to think.

My verdict on Rab ne bana di Jodi !

This year has been an up and down for yashraj films as none of there flicks proved to be a big hit. After Tashan failed at the box office, only Bachna ae haseeno did some average business. So much was expected from Aditya chopra's directed Rab ne bana di Jodi. But after a good start it also went average. It was disappointing for yashraj films as they were expecting a huge hit. The failure of the movie was expected due to recent Terror attacks in Mumbai plus there wasn't enough promotion of the movie. The only saving grace was Shahrukh khan's character in the movie Surrender sahwney and some good music. Anushka lacked expressions but was very confident for a debut girl. So as I m a SRK fan i'll be a bit partial and give this one 3 out of 5 for a family entertainer.
